The forgiveness of Judas Iscariot was the penultimate act of Jesus Christ, the son of man who came to save that which was lost. It was an act second in importance only to his orchestration of his Passion, and by his forgiveness Jesus enabled Judas to participate with him in that Passion.
The forgiveness of Judas Iscariot was commissioned by the father of Jesus, who sent him.
Nevertheless, Jesus concealed the forgiveness of Judas for the glory of God.
He even denied a revelation of it to Simon Peter, who was present for it, and who practically begged him for an understanding of what he was doing, but who was told only, “You will understand hereafter.”
The forgiveness of Judas Iscariot was the foot washing.
More particularly, it was the washing of the heel lifted up against him.
For the disciples of Jesus Christ, it was the example Jesus gave them for how they should respond to the trespasses of one another.
Have any among us received this Jesus Christ? How can they receive him now?
I say these things only in my own name, that the scripture might be fulfilled.
